Do I need any shots before visiting Costa Rica?

No, not really. Costa Rica does not have any dangerous diseases and the health care system is excellent. Two years ago the United Nations did a world wide health study and ranked Costa Rica 35th best in the world. The United States was ranked 36th. (top)

A good seafood or steak dinner usually costs in the range of the equivalent of $5.00 or $7.00. (top)

Are the fishing captains experienced?
They will probably have a minimum of 15 years experience. (top)

Do I have to spend the night in San Jose on the day of arrival into Costa Rica and on the night before departure?
This depends on the time of arrival at San Jose. We can take a look at your arrival time and make a recommendation. (top)

Do I need to bring my own fishing equipment?
No, all equipment is provided. (top)

How much does a fishing license cost?
The cost for a fishing license is $17.00. The license is good for one year. There is additional costs for inland fishing license. (top)

Should I bring insect repellent?
Generally insects are not a problem but it might be a good idea to bring it just in case. (top)

Do I need to tip? If so, how much?
Tipping for meals is generally included in the bill. The amount included is 10%. A reasonable tip for the captain is $25.00 per day for each fisherman/fisherwoman. (top)

What kind of credit cards are accepted?
Visa and Master Card are the most common but usually American Express is also accepted. (top)

Are there TV's in the rooms?
Yes. Most hotels have cable and internet service. Lodges usually do not have TV. If no internet service is available, it is definitely available in the town at a minimum cost (top)


How much money should I convert to local currency?
Very little. One of the beauties of Costa Rica is the fact that they are used to the U.S. and Canadian dollar and thus will give change usually in? colones?, the local currency. They will also not cheat you in the exchange; they will give you the current bank rate. (top)

Is Costa Rica a safe country?
It is one of the safest in the world. (top)

What kind of food do they serve in the restaurants?

They serve both the local and international dishes in almost all restaurants. (top)

Is taxi service reasonable?
Usually the equivalent of $2.00 to $4.00 will take you anywhere. (top)
